Sunday School

There are many good things you can do for your children, but one of the  best is to take them to  Sunday School. Learning the precious truths of the Gospel early in life will have a profound influence for good in their lives.    Unless being taught in the home, it is in Sunday School that children learn these essential truths from the Word of God. They learn the Holy Scriptures which are able to make them wise unto salvation. There is nothing which can replace knowing the Word of God early in life.

And that from childhood you have known the Holy Scriptures, which are able to make you wise for salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus. (II Timothy 3:15)

Not all people realize the importance of children coming to the Lord Jesus.  We have a case in the New Testament where children were brought to the Lord but the disciples were not pleased. The following verses show us the Lord’s response.

Then little children were brought to Him that He might put His hands on them and pray, but the disciples rebuked them.  But Jesus said, “Let the little children come to Me, and do not forbid them; for of such is the kingdom of heaven.”(Matthew 19:13-14)

We accept children for Sunday School from age 3.  Sunday School begins with a time of singing for about 15 minutes.  Then the children break up into different classes according to age.

They are taught from the Bible by adult Christian teachers. They use different methods to make the lessons interesting and relevant. Children may sometimes act out Bible stories and also memorize Bible verses. They are rewarded in many ways for their efforts. You are welcome to sit with your children during the class.

Sunday School Classes run from September to June.  “Open Sunday School” is held during the summer months of July and August into early September every year. In “Open Sunday School” all the children are taught in one class.

We also have a Bible Club for Kids on Friday nights which starts in September and runs through to April or May. This program is available to children of all ages (under 5 must be accompanied by an adult) and is held from 7:00 pm to 8:00 pm. You may call us for more information.

The Bible Club nights begin with a time of singing, then a memory verse is taught to all.  A speaker has a lesson from the Bible and the hour ends with a quiz or game for the children to enjoy.  In addition to a treat to take home each night, the children earn points each night and are awarded prizes on the final night of the session.

Contact us if you would like to bring your children to Sunday School or Bible Club For Kids. We may be able to arrange for transportation, but better yet, come along!
